Sample itinerary for a 8 night residential stay in Paris.
Day 1 : Arrival in Paris Charles de Gaulle airport (flight booked by school). Meet with a representative of Langues et Voyages and your coach driver. Departure by coach from the airport to Paris and your residential centre. Upon arrival, supper and room allocation. Full board accommodation for 8 nights.
Day 2 : Depart the residential centre by metro (or by coach) for the Seine River, near the Eiffel Tower, at les Bateaux Parisiens. Take a boat trip on the river Seine going as far as l'Ile de la Cité to admire Notre-Dame. Picnic lunch. Depart by metro for La Tour Montparnasse, Paris's only skyscraper, standing at 210 metres high. Enjoy the 360° panoramic view of the capital from the 56th floor, after one of the fastest elevator ascents in Europe ! (Possibility of walking to the Jardin du Luxembourg for some free time - closure of the park at 18h30.) Return to the centre by metro, and dinner.
Day 3 : Depart by metro (or by coach) for Le Musée Gourmand du Chocolat and Choco-Story : discover the secret of chocolate and its 4.000 years of history, from the Olmecs to our present day civilisation. Then take part in a chocolate-making workshop. Depart by metro for Montmartre. Lunch with crêpes on the menu ! Depart on foot for Place Blanche to take part in a tour on 'Le Petit Train de Montmartre' up to the Place du Tertre. Then walk around the cobbled streets by the Basilica and enjoy a breathtaking view over the City. Return to the centre by metro, and dinner.
Day 4 : Depart the residential centre for the Louvre Museum. Guided visit of the permanent collection of the museum. Discover an encyclopaedic array of art, displaying works dating from the origins of the great ancient civilisations of the Mediterranean to those of the first half of the 19th century. Lunch in the Pyramide café. Then take part in a workshop : choice to be determined by the teacher. Then time for a walk in the famous Jardin des Tuileries which connects the Louvre Museum to Place de la Concorde. Return to the centre and dinner.
Day 5 : Depart your residential centre by coach to visit a local primary school and interact with French children in their classrooms. Picnic lunch. Depart by coach for Saint Denis. Go for a 1½ hour guided tour of the “Stade de France”. See behind the scenes, where the teams arrive, the changing rooms, the tunnel, etc. and what the public sees. Visit the “Stade de France” museum. Return to the centre by coach and dinner.
Day 6 : After breakfast depart by coach towards Marne la Vallée. Discover the magic world of Walt Disney, and visit Disneyland Parc. Lunch in one of the restaurants on site. Return by coach to Paris and the residential centre.
Day 7 : Depart your residential centre by coach for Versailles, official residence of the French Royalty. The Château de Versailles is one of the largest castles in the world. Visit with audio-guides. Lunch at the Flottille restaurant on site. Then time to visit the Palace's farm and the farmyard animals. Return by coach to your residential centre at the end of the afternoon and dinner.
Day 8 : Depart your residential centre after breakfast, and take part in a circus workshop, with juggling, acrobatics, trapeze and monocycling. Picnic lunch on site. Transfer to the Montsouris Parc for some free time and a walk around the lake. Return to your residential centre at the end of the afternoon and dinner.
Day 9 : After breakfast depart the residential centre by coach for Le Bourget and the Aéroport de Paris. Visit of the Air and Space Museum and discover all types of life size aircraft including the unique Concorde. Pique-nique lunch. Transfer to the shopping centre in Roissy. Depart by coach for the airport, for the return flight (flight booked by school).
