Suggested itinerary for a 5 night stay with language lessons in Le Mans, France.
Day 1 - Arrival : Depart your home town for one of the Channel ports. Embarkation and Channel crossing. Disembarkation in France. Transfer by coach to your home stay or residential centre. Full board accommodation.
Day 2 – Language lessons, local field study and reception at the town hall : Morning : Language lessons in small teaching groups (3 hours). Picnic lunch.
Afternoon : Local field study. In the course of this session the pupils will be at different points around the town centre to question the local inhabitants about a range of topics previously decided in collaboration with the teachers in charge of the group. Transfer at the end of the afternoon to the Town Hall for a reception with the Mayor (subject to acceptance by the Local Authority). Return to host families or residential centre at the end of the afternoon.
Day 3 – Language lessons, the 24 Hour Race Track, and chocolate making : Morning : Language lessons in small teaching groups. Picnic lunch.
Afternoon : Depart by coach for the ‘Circuit des 24 Heures’ where the world famous 24 Hour Motor Race takes place once a year. Guided tour of the race track and the car trials. Then on to Bouloire to see how chocolate is made in the traditional way. Return to host families or residential centre at the end of the afternoon.
Day 4 – Paris : Morning : Depart Le Mans by High Speed Train for Paris. On arrival in the capital, embarkation from Le Pont Neuf on a boat for a river tour on the Seine to see some of the capital’s most famous sights : Le Louvre, Le Pont de L’Alma, La Tour Eiffel, Place de La Concorde and Notre Dame. Picnic lunch.
Afternoon : Visit the Eiffel Tower, then to the Musée d’Orsay, to see one of the finest collections of Impressionist Paintings in the world, displayed in what used to be the Orsay Railway Station. Evening return by High Speed Train to Le Mans.
Day 5 – Language lessons and Chambord : Morning : Language lessons in small teaching groups. Picnic lunch.
Afternoon : Depart for the small town of Chambord in the Loire Valley. Tour of the Renaissance Castle in Chambord, and free time in the town. Return by coach to Le Mans at the end of the afternoon.
Day 6 - Departure : Depart by coach for the French port. Channel crossing and disembarkation in England. Transfer by coach to your home town.
