Sample itinerary for a 6 night homestay with lessons in Angers, France.
Day 1 - Journey and settling in :
Depart your school by coach for Portsmouth. Cross-Channel ferry and disembarkation in Caen-Ouistreham. Direct transfer to Angers. Arrival and introduction to host families. Full-board accommodation for 6 nights.
Day 2 - French language lessons and Angers :
09:15 – 12:15 hrs : French language lessons in small teaching groups. Picnic lunch. Depart by coach for a guided visit of Angers Castle, a medieval fortress in the heart of the town. As part of the visit you will discover the famous ‘Tapisserie de l’Apocalypse’. Then depart on foot with the guide, to visit the Old Town. Meet with the host families at the end of the afternoon..
Day 3 - Equestrian school, bowling and free time :
Depart Angers by coach for Saumur, well-known for its castle, its horses and production of wine. Visit ‘Le Cadre Noir’ the most famous equestrian school for the French military. Picnic lunch. Transfer by coach to the bowling alley in Beaucouzé for a ten pin bowling session. Then, free time for shopping at the local supermarket. Meet with the host families early evening.
Day 4 - Bread making and Cave dwelling :
Depart by coach for the last of nine watermills along the Avort river, the mill provides flour for the bakers of the area. Picnic lunch, and visit of the mill. Then take part in a workshop and discover how to make bread. Goûter with ‘fouées’ at the end of the visit. Transfer by coach to one of the region's troglodyte villages and discover how families lived and farmed in the area. Return to Angers late afternoon.
Day 5 - Full day at leisure with host families.
Day 6 - Theatre workshop and Menthe Pastille :
Depart from the town centre by bus or on foot, to take part in a theatre workshop, animated by a French speaking professional instructor. Picnic lunch. Depart by coach for Avrillé to visit the Giffard Distillery : visit of the distillery to see how the famous Menthe-Pastillle is made. Return to Angers and meet with the host families.
Day 7 - Return journey :
Depart your home stay centre by coach for Caen-Ouistreham. Picnic lunch. Ferry crossing to Portsmouth and direct transfer to your school.
