Suggested itinerary for a four night homestay in Madrid, Spain.
Day 1 - The Journey :
Depart your home town in the U.K. during the day for Channel port. Embarkation and evening Channel crossing. Disembarkation in France, and overnight travel by coach towards Spain.
Day 2 - Settling in :
Stop for continental breakfast in France, and for picnic lunch (both meals included in standard tariff). Arrive in the homestay centre at approximately 18.00 hours. Introduction to host families. Full board accommodation with host families.
Day 3 - Full day in Madrid :
Visit of the Prado Museum and the Centro Reína Sofía to see the famous painting 'Guernica' by Pablo Picasso. Picnic lunch (provided by the host families). Coach tour of the main sights of the capital, la Plaza de Cibeles, la Puerta del Sol, la Plaza Mayor, etc. Afternoon free for shopping and early evening return to Madrid by coach.
Day 4 - Toledo :
Depart Madrid by coach for Toledo. Visit of a 'damasquines' workshop. Picnic lunch. Visit of the El Greco House and Museum, then free time to wander round the narrow winding streets of Toledo. Early evening return to Madrid by coach.
Day 5 - Aranjuez :
Depart Madrid for Aranjuez, where the Spanish kings took up residence towards the end of the Middle Ages. Morning visit of the sixteenth century royal palace and gardens. Picnic lunch. Afternoon visit of the Casa del Labrador. Return to Madrid via Chinchón to see its fine central square where bull fights are still held.
Day 6 & 7 - Return journey :
Depart homestay centre in the morning towards French Channel port. Stop for picnic lunch and for dinner. Overnight travel by coach to Calais. Early morning embarkation in Calais. Channel crossing and disembarkation in the U.K. Coach transfer to your home town.
