Sample itinerary for a 5 night homestay in Angers, France.
Day 1 - Journey and settling in :
Depart your home town for one of the Channel ports. Embarkation and Channel crossing. Disembarkation in France. Transfer by coach to Angers. Introduction to host families. Full board accommodation.
Day 2 - Angers and Saumur :
Morning spent in Angers with a visit to Angers Castle, a medieval fortress in the heart of the town, followed by a local inquiry during which the students will have to find out certain information about the town by asking the local inhabitants. Picnic lunch. Depart by coach in the afternoon for Saumur for a tour of the local wine cellars and the town. Return to Angers at the end of the afternoon.
Day 3 - Daytrip to Paris :
Depart Angers by coach for Paris. Coach tour of the main sights including the Eiffel Tower, Rue de Rivoli and the Louvre, Place de la Concorde, Les Champs Elysées, L'Etoile and the Arc de Triomphe, L'Assemblée Nationale, Le Panthéon etc. Picnic lunch. The visits for the rest of the day to be decided in collaboration with the teachers in charge of the group. Evening return to your homestay town and host family.
Day 4 - Futuroscope :
Depart Angers by coach for Poitiers to visit one of France's best known theme parks, the Futuroscope. Float in the air on the Tapis Magique, and experience live action in any of the "Cinémas Dynamiques". Or just admire the futuristic architecture as you wander round the park to visit as many of its attractions as you can fit into your day. Picnic lunch during the day. Evening return by coach to Angers.
Day 5 - Loire Valley tour :
Depart Angers by coach for a tour of the Loire Valley, famous througout the world for its Renaissance castles and vineyards. Stop in the small town of Amboise for a visit of the castle and the town itself. Picnic lunch. Depart in the afternoon for Le Clos-lucé to visit the house that François I let to Leonardo Da Vinci between 1516 and 1519, and which is now a museum to the memory of the great Italian inventor. Return to Angers at the end of the afternoon.
Day 6 - Return journey :
Depart Angers for the French port. Channel crossing and disembarkation in England. Transfer by coach to your home town.
